People don't like talking about this but honestly it's the most important part of trading before anything. Without risk management, you've already lost. It doesn't matter if your strategy is good or not.
HTF - Higher Timeframe Analysis is key. Always look at the bigger picture as it's a lot easier to get a sense on where the market direction is heading. The smaller time frames can be confusing sometimes.
Any indicator can work if you adapt it to your trading style. I wouldn't recommend just using one indicator alone. It's best to have more than one for confirmation.
