DeFi, by now, has unfortunately become rather notorious with its hacks, thefts and scams problem. This notoriety is bound to get even worse now that news have come out that yet another DeFi protocol became the victim of a major hack. Wormhole, which is a decentralized platform that allows solana to be swapped directly for other cryptos, lost some 320 million US dollars to hackers. This is one of the largest thefts from a DeFi protocols until now.
Apparently some 120,000 wETH (wrapped Ether) were stolen, according to Wormhole’s own team, which also promised to refill its Ether stocks within a few hours of the theft, so the network could continue to function. They did not, however, make it public where that Ether would even come from.

As popular as DeFi is, it clearly has a major security problem, and I don’t see that problem getting any better.
