You might try the THG Straddle Trader expert advisor (MT4) - it is easy to configure and use to capture significant price movements generated by major news announcements.
In the past it was possible to place pending orders at a high and low eg. 10 pips above and below the current price to see which way the news item impacted - however Brokers nowadays widen the spread and Market Makers often send the price up on bad news and down on good to seesaw their profits. In my opinion 15 - 30 minutes post news is a safer way to trade.
