Try closing MT4 and opening it back up. If it continues to freeze, try removing the indicator from the chart. If you can't remove theindicator from the chart because it freezes too quickly, close MT4 and go into the folder containing the robot or indicator and delete it from the folder and re-open MT4.

MT4 and MT5 are relatively heavy software and consumes a large amount of RAM. Depends on your device’s capacity, the platforms can freeze your device’s whole operations or may cause delays in running applications.
It might also be an incompatible or heavy indicator or robot. Remove those and check the platform again to see if there are any improvements.
Ah, during news the platform tends to freeze as well.
